September & October- Fall Favorites

Hi Friends!

It’s so great to be here again and share with you my fall favorites of 2016!! Can you believe there’s only two more months left in this year? I vividly remember starting this lifestyle blog during the holiday season last year and it’s amazing how fast the year flew by. Creating this blog was an outlet for me to share my lifestyle and travel experiences. What started out as a means to document my study abroad trip last winter, turned into a platform where I can express my creativity and rekindle my passions.

Since the start of the fall season, there have been a multitude of things I’ve been enjoying. However, for the sake of being concise, I’ve narrowed them down to the following. I’ve decided to try out a different layout to my favorites post with sectioning off my items into categories. The categories include: lifestyle, food & drinks, beauty, music, shows and experiences/travels. I’d love to here your thoughts on this new layout!! Now without further ado, lets fall into this month’s favorites.

Lifestyle: Creating a Vision Board

For quite some time now, I’ve been putting off the project of creating a vision board. I first found out about this through watching some of my favorite Youtubers. Not knowing how to create one or what content to include in a vision board, I browsed through pinterest and found some inspiration. In a day and age where life is blazing by, its so important to have our eyes on the prize. My vision board reminds me on a daily basis to remain grateful and make my dreams a reality. My vision for the future is a bit hazy, just like when we try to solve a jig-saw puzzle, we know what the image should look like but we have to constantly try different pieces before the correct ones fit and the vision comes to life. 🙂 I hope that creating a vision board makes it onto your to do list.

Food & Drinks: Tea, Butternut Squash, Vegan Cookies

Fall is the season where delicious harvest vegetables adorn the wooden crates of local farmer’s markets. It’s nearly impossible to walk the aisles of a grocery store without seeing large pumpkins at every corner and delicious produce shining under fluorescent lighting. This month I tried a new recipe with butternut squash, I purchased my first tea kettle and was introduced to vegan cookies by my friend Kaylah. My favorite loose leaf tea this month was the ‘Pumpkin Spice Brulee (oolong tea)’ by Teavana. I ended up having a sample of this tea while shopping with my friend Neena and fell in LOVE! Although the initial aroma of the tea wasn’t very enticing, the flavor is DIVINE. This tea is such a treat on early mornings and pairs perfectly with my next favorite which are the vegan chocolate chip cookies. To be completely honest, I was a little skeptical about how these cookies would taste. But these cookies beat the stigma that surrounds vegan adaptations of traditional pastries. I found that the best way to eat these were to warm them in a toaster. The chocolate oozes out of the warm center and lingers on your fingers.

(Special thank you to mom for buying me the cute mug to add to my collection)

Beauty: Matte Liquid Lipsticks, EyeShadow Palette, Antioxidant Face Masks

The season for dark and vampy lips is here! Year after year, the trend for dark matte lips is coming back in style. I decided to check out the hype for myself and bought my first matte liquid lipsticks from Kat Von D & Bare Minerals. Both of these brands have different consistency formulas. Kat Von D’s liquid lipstick (shade Bow & Arrow) is definitely more dry on the lips whereas the Bare Minerals one is more smooth and velvet-like. The next favorite is the tartelette eyeshadow palette. This palette is great for traveling because of its compact size and has a mixture of matte and shimmer shades. Perfect to create any fall glam-look. 🙂 However, any glam look is incomplete without a smooth canvas to work on. The antioxidant masks from Karuna are a great way to pamper yourself after a busy week or prep for a night out. These masks are cooling on the skin and give you a beautiful, effervescent GLOW!

Experience: Eagle Point, Grand Canyon, Colorado River, Hoover Dam

This past month I had the privilege of traveling to Arizona with my family to visit the Grand Canyon! A trip to celebrate my mom’s 50th birthday and a chance to check off another wonder of the world from my bucket list. One of my core values is spending quality time with my family and creating memories and experiences with them. So this mini-vacation was the perfect opportunity to do so.

Upon stepping out of the tour bus at Eagle Point, I was in awe of this majestic canyon in front of me. It was a warm and sunny afternoon, the breeze was mild, and the rocks were nestled perfectly next to one another like a large jenga tower. The canyon stretched for miles, and the view was breathtaking.
